Automatic rises
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, April 18. All pay and cost-of-living rises granted by the Government will be automatically granted to those in receipt of full war pensions. A remit by the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Ex-prisoners of War Association calling for the move was approved by the Minister of Defence (Mr Faulkner) in Dunedin last night. The Minister gave his approval at the opening of the association’s conference. The national secretary of the association (Mr D. C. Bailey) said he was “pleasantly surprised” with the Minister’s reaction to the remit.
