Mini-bus soon

A nine-seater mini-bus for use by the Aged People’s Welfare Council will be on the road within a month. Mr G. A. Mole, the secretary of the council, said ves- ' terday that a van was being . converted because the council was unable to obtain one of the mini-buses used during the Commonwealth Games. “We would very much like to purchase more buses hut we will need some more finance. We were able to purichase this one with a grant from the Recreation and Sporting Fund.” he said.

He hopes that help will come from some service associations and businesses.

Mr Mole said that the council would a'so like ’o extend the friends scheme. This would involve people willing to he’n aged people with odd iobs thev were unable to do -hem selves.

People’s names would ne put on a 'ist and when the council received inquiries from aged peonie the council would ring around and find someone eo and heln. This would involve gardening, moving house, cleaning win'dows and odd jobs.
