Calm again in Portugal
(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright)
LISBON, March 18. The Portuguese Government appears to be in control of the whole country today, and tensions have eased after the abortive coup by young infantry officers. The military police are holding between 20 and 30 Army officers from the Lisbon area, including a senior military commander, Lieuten-ant-Colonel Joao Almeida Bruno, in addition to the 200 young officers and men who participated in the march on Lisbon from Caldas da Rainha on Saturday morning.
