<V 7. P A -Reuter—Copyright; I CANBERRA. February 7. I The president of the Aust-' ralian Confederation of> Apparel Manufacturers, Mr J. Laidlaw, alleged today that Chinese, Malaysians, and Filipinos would soon be employed by the Australian clothing industry to replace thousands of Australian workers. In a statement issued in Canberra. Mr Laidlaw said: •’The Federal Government’s indifference to the industry; is destroying the industry’s; confidence in its future, and has been driving manufacturers to work out of their own country. he industry believes that quotas on the imports of shirts and other garments will be lifted at the end of this month, resulting in the swift) destruction of the home market for important sections of the Australian industry.” j
