Small craft registration
Registration was the only logical, legal, and effective! way of dealing with problemsl arising from the control of I small craft, said Mr H. E. | Denton, at a meeting of the! Lyttelton Harbour Board,l yesterday. The board reaffirmed its view that registration was necessary, and asked the chairman (Mr J. Brand) again to take up the question at the Harbours’ Association conference at Dunedin in March. Mr R. G. Gerard, a former Minister of Marine, said he! was in favour of registration,) but in his time the Marine) ) Department had not been in! favour of it. I Mr Brand said that the' ) question was now before the; [Minister of Marine (Sir Basil) 'Arthur), who had asked for; I more information. ' “We will get nowhere withl I a Minister who is not ini. i favour of registration, alI though every harbour board lis in favour of it.” said Mr) J. E. Mannering.
