Govt money for heater makers

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 7. The Government had offered financial assistance to manufacturers of domestic heaters, the Minister of Energy Resources (Mr Freer) said today. This is to enable them to adapt oil-fired heating units for use with alternative fuels — such as gas. The Government was recently told by heater manufacturers that a 15 per cent reduction in oil consumption for domestic heating on last year would provide enough fuel for heaters installed since last winter. Mr Freer is having talks with the New Zealand Fuel Oil Institute and the oil companies.
