U.S. safety car

The United States Department of Transportation has given the American Ford company a $595,000 contract to develop plans for a 30001 b safety car aimed for the market of the mid-1980s. An aim of the project is to devise safety measures which are compatible with environmental policies, likely road developments, and efficient use of fuel. Once the company has forwarded plans and specifications to the Government agency, it will be eligible to compete for contracts to design and build the safety car for Government testing.
