‘Sports drama’ praised
In a letter to “The Press” Mr Tom McNab, chairman of the British Association of National Coaches, has congratulated the organisers of the tenth Commonwealth Games for providing sports drama of the highest quality. “Although New Zealanders have shown immense sporting talent, in the modern world talent is not enough,” he said.
“My hope is that New Zealand sportsmen will now capitalise on the enthusiasm created by the Games by setting up sound coaching and development plans in all major sports.” The main reason for the success of the Games was not the facilities, the weather or the organisation, but the people of New Zealand, said Mr McNab.
