Arapaho ready for Forbury

Arapaho showed his fitness for the Feslive Free-for-all at Forbury Park on Saturday night with an easy win in the Black and White Whisky Free-for-all at the Amberley Trotting Club’s matinee meeting at Rangiora yesterday.

J. W. Smolensk! took Arapaho to the lead inside the 1800 metres. He was not seriously tested after to win by about two lengths in 3:34 3-5 on a track that was on the dead side. Dauntless did well for second. His chances in the Marlborough Cup on Saturday look bright, although a bad draw may be against him. Manawaru, after trailing the winner for most of the last round, held on well for third in conditions not to his liking. He will form a strong bracket with Royal Ascot at Forbury on Saturday. Bredwardine was fourth, without looking a danger at any stage. Lopez Star and Commissioner gave good displays when they lead throughout the First and Second Addington Memorial Stakes for two-year-olds. Lopez Star easily beat Royal Cherie and In To Win in the race for fillies, while Commissioner was not tested to beat Tiny Time and Corona Gold in the race for colts and geldings. Junior Armbro, after being in or near the lead throughout, had a comfortable win in the penalty-bearing Canterbury Park Maiden. He beat Tineka, which did

well after falling heavily in her preliminary, and the locally trained Loburn Green. Result.— CANTERBURY PARK MAIDEN JUNIOR ARMBRO T. A. F. Richards’ b g by Armbro Del—Junior Miss 3yrs It A.
