Australian ‘Contact’
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 6.
A Brisbane woman is planning to set up a voluntary organisation throughout Australia to relieve loneliness among old people. The woman, Mrs Pat King, is in Britain to study the “Contact” organisation, which offers the same service. Mrs King says she plans to obtain official recognition for Australia’s “Contact,” and to start spreading its work to the main cities. “Contact” runs in Brisbane, where eight groups of volunteers help 100 elderly people. Mrs King said in London that she planned to start the work in Melbourne soon after her return. ENGAGEMENT (Engagement notices must be signed by both parties.) Yortt—George: Mr and Mrs J. D. George, “Rayland” No. 7 R.D., Ashburton, have pleasure in announcing the engagement of their eldest daughter Susan Dorothy, to Mark Laurie, second son of Mr and Mrs C. L. Yortt, Havelock North, Hawkes Bay.
