Engine ‘beyond scope of club’

(N.Z.P.A.-Rcuter—Copyright) SALSBURG (Austria), Feb. 6. Dr Aurelio Peccei, president of the Club of Rome, said today that the club could not get involved with a New Zealander’s claim to have developed a water-powered rotary engine for cars. Dr Peccei said the inventor, Mr M. Vincent, of Nelson, had written to the club and would receive a reply saying that the reported development was outside its scope of activities.

“We have many offers of this kind. It is not our job to examine this kind of proposal,” Dr Peccei said. “We are writing to the inventor wishing him every success but we cannot do anything with it. We have enough on our hands.” The Club of Rome is a gronp of about 90 scientists and businessmen concerned with problems of the future. Government leaders from six countries are attending a Club of Rome conference at Salzburg this week.
