Theatres elose

i t.V.Z. l*.A. •Reuter— Copy right) LONDON, Feb. 6. ' Britain’s industrial troubles have sent box office takings at London theatres plummeting and brought the curtain down permanently on several shows. Audiences arc staying away because of fears they might be stranded by a train drivers’ dispute, which is causing the cancellation of: late-night trains. Cinemas in the capital are also feeling the pinch, last week’s takings being down £36,278 on the previous week. By the end of this month 10 stage shows will have closed because of lack of support. Mr John Gale, president of the Society of West End Managers, said: "There can be no reason for these shows’ failure other than the problem of the railways. At the moment the situation is looking very grim.”
