Drought in north
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 5. Rain which fell on farms in Waikato and Auckland today laid the dust, but did little to ease the drought. Farmers throughout the region described the benefits: of the rain as marginal. “It! might brighten up a few turnip crops,” said the vice-! 'president of the Waikato : Federated Farmers (Mr W. R. Storey). “But it’s not enough Ito help the pasture. Unless! we get more rain we will be! back to where we were before yesterday.” The president of Auckland Federated Farmers (Mr D. J. Dufty) said the situation was I serious.
