Amendment No. 7” , the following restrictions on Public Lighting will i applv in the M.E.D’s area of supply on and after I 7th February, 1974. until further notice:— (1) Each of the following uses of electricity is ; hereby prohibited: ta) Lighting for advertising purposes; (b) Floodlighting of buildings; (c) Decorative lighting; (d) Illuminated signs, unless essential for : safety or directional needs; (e) The lighting of shop windows outside normal trading hours. (2) Notwithstanding anything in clause (1) of this notice there may be displayed by way of ; illumination in, at. or associated with — (ai Any shop within the meaning of the Shops i and Offices Act 1955 other than an hotel, not more than one illuminated sign relating to the business of the shop if the sign . is illuminated only during the normal trading hours of the shop: and (b) Any hotel or motel not more than one illuminated sign relating to the business I of the hotel or motel if the sign is iliuminated only after sunset but. in relation to any night in which it is illuminated, not i after midnight.
