No action on water engine
r (Neu' Zealand Press Association) . WELLINGTON. February 4. 1 The D.S.I.R; report on the engine ! invented by a Nelson man. who claims that it can run on water, recommended to the Minister of Science (Mr Moyle) that no further action he taken on the engine.
The report was given to the Minister just before Christmas after an investigation by two D.S.I.R. scientists. The Minister’s press officer (Mr A. Hope) said >' today that from what the ’ scientists were able to see y of the engine, they could not t determine whether the en-i ■ gine was able to function. Mr Vincent, a 30-year-old 1 mechanic, would not show •the scientists the engine.': - said Mr Hope,. t Mr Vincent was reported ) yesterday to have spld the ; I engine to an Australian re-
search group, the Club of Rome, for $25.6m. From what the two scientists were able to see and discuss with Mr Vincent, they were unable to determine whether it could work. Mr Hope said. However, in their report; to the Minister they did not rule out the possibility that Mr Vincent might have discovered a new scientific principle, which could mean that such an engine could function. Mr Vincent still had to prove that his water-pow-ered engine could function, said Mr Hope.
