Sports grants recommended
Applications by the Christchurch Civic Orchestra [Foundation and the South Island Zoological Society for • sports and recreation subsidies did not qualify, the Paparua County Council I ruled last evening, when it recommendations to go to the Ministry of [Sport and Recreation. The recommendations, if adopted, would jnvolve a total subsidy payment of $17,670, of which $11,125 would apply to council projects, including $6575, towards the cost of buying land for a reserve at Sockburn, $lll7 for more land for the Prebbleton Domain, and $1737 for land for Kyle Park. The council agreed that if the amount of subsidy claimed exceeded the amount available, the council’s amounts would be reduced. Included in the recommendations were applications from 13 sports clubs and the Prebbleton Domain Board.
