The flood-relief funds will) be distributed throughout 1 the greater Brisbane area, which was hit by devastating floods a yveek ago. and to the victims of month-long floods in Queensland and .northern New South Wales. In the last week the Red Cross has distributed food and clothing to about 10,000 i flood victims in Queensland, and supplies are still being issued from 14 centres in Brisbane. Emergency supplies of I milk, canned meat, and i babies nappies have been I given by companies with (stocks in the city. Mopping up during the I i weekend has enabled 6000; !families to move back into; [their homes in Brisbane and’ Ipswich, but there is still a [hard-core of 2000 houses in ■ Brisbane severely affected by the floods, and 700 in Ipswich. At least 8000 houses in Brisbane and 4000 in Ipswich have been damaged, submerged, or destroyed. Aiderman Jones disclosed (today that, in all, 13,750 homes were affect-’ jed in some way.
