Sam Goldwyn dies at 91
f.V.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) I LOS ANGELES. Sam Goldwyn, the colourful Polish immigrant who: helped found the American; film industry and became its; most, independent producer, has died, aged 91. Goldwyn introduced such stars as Gary Cooper. Will Rogers. David Niven. Danny i Kaye and Ronald Coleman to world audiences. He also; convinced some of the cen-l tury’s most celebrated writers to devote their energies to the new art of I film writing. Among the men who wrote films for Goldwyn, were Sinclair Lewis, Ben Hecht,! Robert Sherwood and Maurice Maeterlinck. His long list of motion picture epics won a total of 27 academy awards. Among his most famous films were! “The Little Foxes,” “The Best Years of Our Lives,”’ and “Porgy and Bess.”
