Praise for Mr Scott General managers of nations competing at the Games spoke glowingly of the organisation, and particularly of the part played by the chairman, Mr R. S. Scott. The Australian general manager, Mr W. Young, asked at the final meeting of managers to lead the tributes. said: “Ninety per cent of the success of these Games is due to Ron Scott. “And yet, when he speaks, as he did at a swimming pool presentation to him last night, he at no time mentioned the word. ‘l’.” There was a standing ovation for Mr Scott after Mr Young added: “Throughout these Gaines, Mr Scott has kept himself at the heart of the Games—with the athletes. “He deserves the highest praise.”
