Ash pollutes river
(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, February 3. The intake to Taumarunui’s water reservoir was closed today after rain in the Tongariro National Park washed ash from Mount Ngauruhoe into both the Wanganui and Whakapapa Rivers. The rivers are expected to clear in a few days.
