London bus to stay
The double-decker bus which was used in Christchurch during the Commonwealth Games by English women athletes has been acquired by the Tramway Historic?,! Society on behalf of the Ferry mead Trust. Mr B. J. Dale, of the Tramway Historical Society, said last evening that it was hoped that the trust would soon be able to let the public of Christchurch ride in the bus—a real London double-decker one. The vehicle, which was surrounded by some controversy when it was first announced that it was coming to Christchurch, was built in 1949 by Weyman on an A.E.C. chassis, and first entered service in 1950.
