Get-together The former world recordholder, P. G. Snell, and the Kenyan double gold medallist, Ben Jipcho, plan to have a friendly jog together. Snell, who is in Christchurch as a j member of the track and field I jury of appeal, hopes to get out with Jipcho today. Tomorrow the Kenyan will seek his third gold medal, in the 1500 metres. The pair had not met before the Commonwealth Games. Pill problem The Australian Games team; is suffering from an embarrassment of vitamin riches. Visitors to the team’s head-; quarters in the village usu-: ally have an assortment of pills pressed on them from, the plentiful supplies, which' seem to be arriving daily.. Today’s “special” was either vitamin E pills or sugarcoated dessicated liver tablets. Helping out R. Tayler, a gold medal safely in his pocket, was helping New Zealand’s 1500-: metre runners complete their| preparations today. Tayler went for a warm-up run with R. Dixon and A. Polhill this; morning, on the streets near! the Games village. Marathon effort Overheard during the marathon last evening. One spectator saying to another: “It’s only a heat today. The final is tomorrow.” Hands writing The New Zealand team has an fdded task these days—signing autograph books. Each morning a large pile is left on the table in the team common room for athletes to sign as they pass through.
