DAYLIGHT SAVING
Repeal sought in America (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON. Saying that they made a mistake, United States senators of both parties have introduced legislation to repeal the daylight saving time that went into effect only three weeks ago in an attempt to save energy.
The original legislation, putting the clocks ahead one hour, was passed as a temporary measure to end in April, at the request of President Nixon as part of the programme to combat the energy shortage; but since the measure went into effect on January 6, there have been complaints about traffic accidents and assaults involving children going to school during the pre-dawn darkness, and Congress has been urged to repeal the legislation.
