Women attacked
An elderly woman, in her middle 70s, was admitted to Christchurch Hospital late last night with a broken jaw she suffered when she and another elderly woman were attacked in Armagh Street by a would-be robber. Her condition was not known er.rly this morning. Her companion was also taken to hospital but discharged after treatment for shock and minor injuries. Their assailant made off without taking anything when he was disturbed. The police, who described the attack as sudden and vicious, wish to hee.r from any person who was in Armagh Street, between Barbadoes Street and Fitzgerald Avenue, between 10.10 p.m. and 10.30 p.m.
