Heavy on shuttles
Nearly 60 dozen shuttles have been used at Cowles Stadium in four days of the badminton competition. The mounting pile of used shuttles is raising the question of what will happen to them after the Games. No indication has been given whether they will be given away, sold or just dumped. “Most of them are pretty useless after the top boys have smashed them,” one umpire said yesterday. But a large number of shuttles were considered useful, at least for practice.
