Spinners in new series
The famous folk-singing group, the Spinners, are featured in a series from the Octagon Theatre, Bolton, whcin begins on Monday. The programmes feature a medley of skiffler numbers and other medleys are planned, including drinking songs and sea shanties. "It is a good opportunity to show the Spinners' talents over a wide range of material in a short space of time,” says the producer of the series, Barry Bevins. The guests are all top artists in their own fields of entertainment. They include ventriloquist Shan Lewis, jazz-man Acker Bilk, singer Sandie Shaw, actor-comedian Bernard Cribbins and Scottish singer Moira Anderson, who said : "It was lovely to let my hair down with the boys after doing a lot of serious singing. And of course it’s always a giggle hearing Englishmen singing Scottish songs,”
