REDUNDANCY ACCEPTED
Redundancy at Lyttelton is accepted with reservations, according to the secretary of the Lyttelton Waterside Workers’ Union (Mr M. E Foster). It is proposed that Lyttelton’s union strength be reduced by 54 to 630, under an agreement between the Waterside Workers’ Federation and the Port Employers’ Association. The reduction in numbers [had to be accepted as a fact : of life, but not a desired one, IMr Foster said.
