Jupiter man wins race
Crews from five Navy vessels anchored in Lyttelton competed in a race from the bow of the Royal yacht Britannia to the top of the Bridle Path yesterday. The five ships involved were H.M.A.S. Anzac, IH.M.N.Z.S. Canterbury, Brit-1 'annia, H.M.N.Z.S. Inverell and H.MJS. Jupiter. More than 30 crew members ran, the first man to finish being Leading Seaman T. Osborne, from Jupiter. His time was 14min 55sec. Ordinary Signalman G. Wake (Canterbury) was second, and Petty Officer R. Golding (Inverell) was third. Anzac won the teams’ event. Lieutenant S. Johnson, from Inverell, organised the race.
