Royalty at park
The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, will leave the Britannia by car for Queen Elizabeth II Park at 2.35 p.m. today. The car will travel via the Christchurch-Lyttelton Road Tunnel, Dyers Road, Linwood Avenue, Buckleys Road, Kerrs Road, Wainoni Road, New Brighton Road, Barkers Road, and Travis Road, arriving at the stadium at 3.00 p.m. The Queen will present track and field medals. They will later leave by car along the same route for the Britannia. At ■ 8.40 p.m. the Royal party will leave by car for Christchurch, arriving at 9.00 p.m. to attend the Royal Variety Concert. The party will travel via the Christchurch-Lyttelton Road Tunnel and Ferry Road. There will be a ceremonial drive along High Street, Colombo Street and Kiimore Street. Princess Anne and Captain Phillips at the conclusion of the concert will go to the James Hay Theatre, where Princess Anne will present weightlifting medals. They will then rejoin the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. The party will then leave via the same route to the Britannia. The Prince of Wales during the evening will attend the badminton finals at Cowles Stadium and the swimming finals at Queen Elizabeth II Park to present medals. He will later leave by car for the H.M.S. Jupiter.
