A SENIOR SCIENTIST is required in the research field relating the characteristics of raw wool to their importance during manufacture and in endproducts. The position will entail: — carrying out trials involving the selection and testing of greasy and scoured wools, processing these wools to end-products through the Pilot Plant at the Organisation’s Laboratories, and assessing the performance of these products; — liaising with the various wool production research units throughout New Zealand and assisting them to assess the manufacturing importance of their w'ool production and sheep breeding programmes; — studying the effects of aggregating various wools into manufacturers’ processing Jots, and thus the manufacturing significance of wool blending and handling procedures, both in New Zealand and overseas; — carrying out trials and co-operating with overseas organisations on trials, studying the processing and product performance of blends of New Zealand and other wools which are typical of processing lots in many overseas countries. The Organisation appreciates that there may be few graduates who have a detailed knowledge or experience of wool production, pre-process, processing product and product performance aspects of this work. The Organisation would therefore welcome applications from graduates experienced in some aspects of this work who are interested in, and prepared to leant about, the other areas with which thev are not familiar.
