Ellesmere beat Hurunui in a (low scoring under 23 representative cricket match in the last ; round of the Norman Allen Trophy at Waikari. The two teams were battling, to avoid the wooden spoon award. Although Hurunui was beaten on the first innings, it i gained some consolation from its' efforts by taking the two bonus ■ points. !.
