Large food retailing firms ihave been charging 2c more | for a 16oz tin of pet food since early this month, but in some shops the increase is as much as 4c a tin.

New season’s Canadian salmon will now cost about 22c more for a 7|oz tin. During the next few weeks all brands of pineapple will cost 20 per cent more for a 16oz tin as stocks are replaced. The salmon and pineapple increases are said to be the result of higher importing costs, and the pet food increase was approved by the Department of Trade and Industry.
