Alpine achievement
Four French climbers, one of them a priest, have become the first men to scale the north face of the Whymper Peak, in the Mont Blanc range, by the direct route. Messrs Yannick Seigneur, Michel Feuillerade, and Marc Galy, and the Rev. Louis Audoubert, reached the summit at 1.5 a.m. New Zealand time yesterday.—Chamonix, Jan. 29.
