Raelene sheds tracksuit
1 Raelene Boyle did not wear la tracksuit when she reIceived the gold medal for her [win in the 100 metres. She [stood on the victory dais in [the running gear and long socks she wore in the race.. The Australian told a press conference later that she had done this because of the continuing trouble over the i make of athletics clothing [she was allowed to wear. “I have to wear either the official clothing used by the team or a plain tracksuit,” said Raelene, who works for a sports goods firm. Another firm outfitted the team, and earlier this week the team manager (Mr W. Young) told Raelene she must not wear the clothing made by her employers. Miss Boyle said: "I wouldn’t wear what the team wanted me to, so 1 didn't use the tracksuit at ail for the victory ceremony.”
