Town clerk to run gallery
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The Town Clerk of Auckland (Mr G. O. Sims) has agreed to take temporary control of the Auckland Art Gallery until a new director is appointed. The director, Mr R. T. Hirsch, is seriously ill in Auckland Hospital after falling three floors from his flat early on Tuesday morning. Mr Hirsch had resigned as director of the gallery, and was to leave in June.
