1200 see display at Mona Vale
About 1200 people have visited the exhibition of antique furniture, clocks, tirearms, modern paintings and rugs since it opened at Mona Vale on Thursday.
One of the collectors whose items are on display, but not for sale, said yesterday that most visitors preferred to look at the exhibits rather than buy. However, some items worth several hundred
dollars have been sold by the dealers. Items worth about $40,000 are for sale, and another $50,000 worth are not for sale. The antiques include a sword made in 1500, a gun made about 1600, and a 1760 French clock made of gilded , brass. The clock is for sale at $BOO. The most expensive litem for sale is an early 'French credenza cabinet, de- ! scribed as “a cross between la sideboard and a China cabinet.” The asking price is ) $2OOO. I The paintings include 20 ) works by noted New Zealand painters. A glass cabinet with several shelves contains hundreds of dolls dressed in national costumes. An early repeater rifle valued at $6OOO. and two Purdy guns valued at $l5OO each are among the antique arms exhibited by the Antique Arms Association. They are not for sale.
