One-man team confident
The 20-year-old Frankie I.ucas might be on the serge of making history for St Vincent, where he was born. Entered as a middle-weight boxer, he is “half of the oneman team” from his country. "I am the other half,” his trainer. Ray Chapman, said yesterday. "I am Frankie’s trainer and also the team manager, “I cannot remember St Vincent winning a boxing medal at any Games but I think that it once took a bronze in some other sport. “Frankie looks like the man to put this right. He has a great chance of taking the gold. When he was dropped from the England team St Vincent was only too glad to have him.” Lucas, the English amateur middle-weight champion, now Croydon, and was surprised not to be chosen for England.
