University Vacancies DARLING DOWNS INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED EDUCATION THE Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education serves the Darling Downs region of Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales. It is situated in Toowoomba, a citv of 60,000 people, situated on the crest of the Dividing Range, just 80 miles from Brisbane. The city has rail, air and coach connections with Brisbane, is within easy driving distance of the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast and offers a range of medical, educational and recreational services. SCHOOL OF EDUCATION The School of Education in 1974 will have 500 students and offers a three year Diploma in Teaching at both Primary and Early Childhood levels and also provides a major course of study in health and physical education. Currently a four vear Bachelor of Education Degree is under consideration for accreditation. Applied research emphasis include the individualisation of instruction. the application of Piagetian concepts in teaching Mathematics, linguistic developments in early < hildhood and remediation of developmental problems through corrective physical education. Applications are invited for the following positions:— SENIOR LECTURER IN EARLY CHILDHOOD STUDIES (80/18) The Diploma in Teaching presently offered will he expanded to include a specialisation for preschool and infant teachers as from 1974. The appointee will be expected to provide the necessary academic and administrative expertise to ensure the success of this new development. LECTURER IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION (80/23) The appointee, who must be a female, will be required to offer courses in health and physical education and preference will be given to an appointee with interests in the areas of movement and dance.
