Reed to be interviewed
The Riecarton jockev, D E ! Reed, who was suspended for one riding-day by the judicial committee of the Kumara Racing Club on Saturday and unsuccessfully appealed against that suspension yesterday, will soon be advised to appear before the Canterbury District Committee, i This action is being taken bycause of Reed’s race-riding! offences and suspensions over a long period. Last September! Ihe was spoken to bv a sub-1 committee of the Canterbury! District Committee after a perusal of his record but twice since he has been warned by I judicial committees of racing) clubs that if he continued to cause interference in races his > I list of suspensions would be brought to official notice. The secretary of the Canter, bury District Committee (Mr W. R. Barberell said yesterday that I although no date for a hearing had been set the committee would interview Reed as soon as possible. Their recommendations to the New Zealand Raci ing Conference could have a bearing on the Riecarton jockey’s future in racing.
