Chatfield top bowler in Plunket Shield

Wellington’s find of the season, the medium-pace bowler, E. J. Chatfield.

topped the bowling axerages with 26 wickets at an average of 13.9 runs in the Plunket Shield series.

The Otago bowler, M. G. Webb, a former inter-i national, took the most] wickets in the series — ( 10 —at an average of 111.6 runs a wicket.

The Auckland captain, M. G. Burgess, topped the batting averages with 65.4 runs, from an aggregate of 458 runs, and a highest score of 130 not out. He was also the top scorer for the series.

H. J. Howarth, of Auckland, took 11 catches in the (field, and W. K. Lees, of (Otago, held 10. ( The top wicket-keeper was I. J. Therkleson (Wellington), with 20 catches and one stumping.
