However, Tai, a former world champion, fought out a long game with Miles that lasted nearly all day, and which ended in a draw.

Final scores were: Kuzmin Szabo. Tai and Timman 10; Si Gligoric (Jugoslavia) 9), R. Keene (England) 9, A. Adorjan (Hungary) 81, P. Benko (U.S.) and W. Harriston (England) 7), M. Basman (England) 7, Suttles 6), K. Pytel (Poland) 6, Miles (England) 5), S. Garcia (Cuba) and M. Stean (England) 5.
