Thoracotomy on Crosby

The American entertainer, Bing Crosby, was placed in an intensive care unit in the Peninsula Hospital last night after surgery, lasting 2J hours, for the removal of a large abscess on his left lung. Dr Stanley Hanfling, Mr Crosby’s personal physician, said that about two-fifths of the lung was removed, along with an abscess the size of a small orange. There was no indication of cancer. The famous singer was reported to be in a satisfactory condition late last night.
