No rock concert
A ruck concert to have been held on January 24. the night of the opening of the Commonwealth Games, has been cancelled because. the organisers say. they are unable to find a venue
A spokesman for the .organising committee said !yesterday that it had considered the use of English Park and the Addington Show Grounds, but had been told both places were unsuitable for large gatherings of (young people ) “The City Council j suggested South Hagley Park, 'but it wanted a $5OO bond, land this with the $3O hire | fee and the electricity (charges, would price the area 'out of our range, as it would be impossible to enclose the area and charge admission,” 'the spokesman said.
