More policewomen in Italy
More policewomen will be seen on the Streets of Italian cities in future.
| The Rome Council has so i far recruited 37 women who 1 have been undergoing train- , ing for the last few months. They recently successfully i passed examinations called i for knowledge of penal, adminisfrative, and constitu- ; tional law; traffic regulations; local council regulations; the handling of road accidents; street locations and the history of monuments and public buildings. i The ages of these new ; policewomen range between < 25 and 35, and most of them!
either hold school diplomas or are about to graduate. They will not all be used for control of traffic since this duty will be limited to those with the required physique and knowledge. The Rome Council has already decided that the women police will be particularly useful in controlling retail prices and vendors’ licences, a problem of great importance at the moment since the Government is about to introduce a severe economic policy. —ltaldoc.
