JAPANCHINA ACCORD
(,X Z P.A -R< TOKYO. January 6 Japan and China have signed a three-year trade agrexnent giving each other most-favoured-n?.tion treatment. The signing took place in Peking last night between the Japanese Foreign Minister (Mr Masayoshi Ohira) and his Chinese counterpart, Mr Chi Pengfei.
The agreement grants both countries most-favoured-nation treatment with respect to tariffs, customs clean I ,nee, and other matters relating to bilateral trade.
It will go into effect on January 10 under the provisions of Notes exchanged in connection with the signing of the agreement.
It is the first Govern-ment-level pact to be concluded since the two countries restored their relations to normal in September. 1972.
