This ewe from Messrs J. F. G. Blakely and Son. Clifton. Waikari, won the new Corriedale merit ewe class at the Canterbury Show last November The class is judged on the lifetime lambing records of the ewe and on a visual appraisal of the ewe and the lamb or lambs running with her. The Blakely ewe, a five-year old, which has reared seven lambs in four lambings, scored 27 out of 30 for lambing performance. 29 out of 30 for her lambs, and 39 out of 40 herself on visual appraisal.
