The Dutch master. J. Timman, has maintained his lead in the premier tournament. of the Hastings Chess Congress with a devastating win over A. Miles (England).

Timman took only 22 moves to beat Miles in their sixth round match and leads the table with five points, a half point ahead of two grandmasters, G. Kuzmin (Soviet Union) and L. Szabo (Hungary). Kuzmin had a fairly easy win against the veteran West German player, L. Rellstab, while Szabo beat M. Basman (England) in similar fashion.
