A stirring fifth-wicket partnership between P. Webb and the team’s captain, K. Fawcett, which produced 106 runs in 140 minutes, carried Auckland past the Wellington first innings and into the lead in the Brabin Cup cricket tournament yesterday Auckland wUI go into the last series with 10 points—five more than Canterbury, which it will play today, and WeUington. Otago, the defending title-holder, has yet to score a point. Wellington 186 (E. Gray 82. N. Smith 32; J. Chitty 3/11, A. McAlpine 3/42) and 62/3, Auckland 279/6 dec. (P. Webb 86 not out, M.
