WOMEN’S CRICKET
Two share lead (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Wellington and Auckland lead with 17 points, followed by Canterbury 8, North Shore 4 and Otago 3, after two rounds of the Halleyburton Johnstone women’s cricket competition. Although behind by 10 runs on the first innings, Wellington revealed its true strength against Otago on Saturday. Accurate bowling, backed up by fine catching, gave J. Saulbrey the excellent figures of seven for 35 off 29 overs. Later, Wellington, needing 93 runs for maximum points, achieved this for the loss of four wickets. Auckland was far superior to Canterbury, gaining maximum points before tea. A brave stand by J. Lord and S. Rattray gave some respectability to the Canterbury second innings. Canterbury 50 and 129 (S. Rattray 75 not out, J. Lord 19: J. Stenning 4/54, G. Page 4/57), Auckland 156 and 24/1. Otago. 146 and 82 (B. Robinson 32; J. Saulbrey 7/35), Wellington 136 and 96/4 (P. McKelvey 29 not out; I. Robinson 3/38).
Ghana's team.—Ghana will be represented by 22 competitors at next month’s Commonwealth Games in Christchurch—lB athletes and four boxers. They will be accompanied by seven officials.
