Seminar on exercise
An international seminar on exercise and its relationship to health and disease will be held at Victoria University, Wellington, from February 11 to February 14.
Arranged by the Wellington Postgraduate Medical Society, the aim of the seminar is to define and measure exercise, and to discuss how a person supposedly in normal health responds to it.
Also considered will be the best amount of exercise for school children, and the principles of exercise for the more fit adults, the physical effort involved in some occupations, and the methods of assessing work capacity. The rehabilitation of those with diseases of the lung or chest ■will be discussed. A number of world authorities will speak at the seminar which is thought will be the [first of its kind held in New (Zealand as previous discussions by sports medicine I groups have dealt with [aspects particularly affecting I athletes.
